If you walk around any college campus long enough, you will see students who are members of sororities or fraternities. How will you know that they are participating in these organizations? They will be wearing Apparel for Greeks that shows off the symbols of their group. What do you think when you see these people?

Here are some of the assumptions that people make about clothing and Greeks … and some information to dispel these myths in case you’re guilty of believing in them:

Assumption One: Anyone who wears Greek clothing has no individuality. Just check out the different custom Greek merchandise that many Greeks use to accessorize and you’ll see that their individuality shines through.

Assumption Two: That person wears Greek clothing so others will be impressed with him. Usually, the clothing is worn to show that the person is proud of being part of a group. Chances are they don’t really care what you think about their clothes.

Assumption Three: If someone wears those clothes, they probably only want to associate with others in the group. Hardly. Membership in a sorority or fraternity shows a commitment not only to the group but to the surrounding community.

Try making conversation with one of these people next time that you’re on campus and you’ll see that they’re just like anyone else that you know - unique.
