Showing Off our Tattoos During a Training Camp

A couple of years ago, I joined the Army reserves. I thought that it would be a great way to serve my country and see the world. It wasn’t going to be a full time commitment by any means; I would be able to keep my job as a stock broker.
I have to admit that the training was tough. I thought that I was in shape, but I was most certainly wrong – after each day of training, I hurt head to toe. But, after the training was complete I was going to learn valuable lessons that would change my life.
During those first few years, I learned the value of communication in an organization and I learned that a chain of command was very valuable. I was able to apply these lessons to my real life career, and I was able to advance both in the military and in my corporation as well.
One of the most unique experiences I had during my service was one day at a training camp where we were all comparing tattoos – it seemed that everyone had one. There were many skull tattoos, some dragon tattoos, and even a couple of flags. Everyone commented that they like the angel of death that I had on my back.
Though I don’t put in as many hours as I used to in the reserves, I still love every moment of it – serving my country was what I was born to do.
