My Babyware Faux Pas

I recently committed a faux pas when assisting a friend with her wedding registry. We were trying to figure out which items to add to the registry so that she would get what she wanted. I know that she’s been wanting heirloom babyware for her kids ever since she found out about the stuff so I suggested that she add that to the registry. That’s when she went all bug-eyed and informed me of my faux pas.
You see, my friend is pregnant but she hasn’t told too many people yet. She doesn’t want anyone to think that she and her fiancee are getting married just because she got pregnant. She couldn’t believe that I would suggest putting babyware on the registry since that would cause people to start guessing that she was about to have a baby.
Personally I thought she was overreacting. First of all she wanted the babyware before she even got pregnant so it’s not unreasonable to think that she’d still want it even if she wasn’t pregnant yet. And secondly, I don’t think anyone at the wedding is going to care that she got pregnant before she got married since everyone already knows that her and her fiancee were living together. Nevertheless, we left it off the list. That’s okay; I know exactly what to get her for the baby shower!
