You may think that you’re being green simply by planting a garden and growing some of your own fresh foods. That’s true but you should be doing a lot more to green your garden.
One of the main things that you should look at when trying to green your garden is your use of water in the garden. Make sure that any watering systems and decorative water structures that you have are all water-saving devices. For example, water wall fountains are great in a garden but they should be eco-friendly wall fountains so that you’re not wasting water with them.
You should also have a method of saving water in your home to use in your garden. A rain barrel is a great example of how you could store rainwater and then use it to water your garden so that you’re not wasting water.
Another important feature of being green in the garden is being careful what you plant. It’s best for the earth if you only plant those plants which are native to your area or to climates similar to yours. Do some research into these and other green gardening techniques so that you’re really benefitting the earth with your garden.
