The Best Place for a Hot Tub

One of the big decisions about getting a hot tub is, of course, where to put it. This is a big decision for most people, since where you put your hot tub will impact how often you use it and how much you enjoy it.
Portable hot tubs afford some extra flexibility because they are easy to place. Furthermore, with portable spas you can later change your mind and move it somewhere else — as the name would suggest. However, even with this freedom you may want to think hard about where you would like to put your hot tub, so that you get it right the first time.
One thing you may want to think about is whether you want your hot tub above ground or sunken. Of course, if you put it into the ground you won’t be able to move it on a whim — once it’s there, it’s there. But I’ve seen some really neat setups where people have a sunken hot tub on their porch, in a gazebo, or even in a room in the house of one family I knew!
Above ground hot tubs are more common, though, as they are less expensive to install, easier to relocate, and presumably easier to work on. They usually have some sort of wood paneling encasing them in order to cover and protect the sides of the hot tub, and there may be a hot tub platform along the sides to give people a place to sit around the outside of the hot tub.
When it comes down to it, the choice of where to put your hot tub will probably depend partly on your setup at your house, and partly on how much money you have to spend on installation!

Wow. Congrats on your hot tub! A friend of mine has a hot tub attached to her deck and it’s great for summer parties. Her hot tub is sunken, if you go this route make sure you think seriously about the location and other possible upgrades you may want to do to your house in the future and how the hot tub will fit in with those.
I prefer an above-the-ground place for my hot tub. Mostly because it’s easier to move around. And safer, since we sometimes have kids coming to our house.

Yes, definitely, it’s hard to decide where to put a hot tub. We’ve got friends (who have tubs) who have installed it in different ways.
We’ve been asking for their opinions and hopefully, we’ll be able to make a good decision soon.
I love our hot tub! We had it installed above ground. For safety reasons. We’ve got kids who run everywhere and I don’t want them to fall in accidentally.
We installed ours on the patio so it’s sunken. It’s perfect for parties! Or when my hubby and I just want to be alone.
