My Unconventional Office Chair

I have a rather unconventional office chair, but then that’s not all that odd for me — I often have different tastes in furniture than most people.
I happen to like antiques, so my desk in my home office is a small desk with leather panels set in the top, probably from the 1930s or so. Because the foot well is more narrow than most modern desks, however, a modern office chair won’t work with it – not that I would like the way it looked, anyway.
When we bought the desk, it came with a small vintage dining chair, possibly from the same era. However, it wasn’t a very comfortable chair — the cushion wasn’t very thick, and was actually rather hard and flat. So after a couple of years of dealing with it, I decided to look for a new chair.
The chair I eventually got is also a vintage dining chair, this time with no cushion — but for some reason, possibly because of the shape and curve of the seat, it’s more comfortable to me. It also fits our decor perfectly. You can’t see it in the picture, but in this room there is also a nice area rug in a vintage style.

Sometimes the perfect chairs are the ones that don’t look like the perfect chairs. What’s the point of having the “right chair” if it’s breaking your back?
Great post!
Good job with the desk chair. I’m still searching for the perfect one for my desk.

I know what you mean. It’s so hard to find the perfect chair for your back. I’m still looking for the perfect one for my office.
