With interest rates low, this is the perfect time to build a home, I think. I have been working on finding some home plans to work with. I am not an architect, but I do want to have some say in how this home looks. I’m very excited to see it all come together. There are plenty of floor plans available online, which is okay, but until I see if they will work for me, I am not sure I should use them. Does anyone have any experience using these plan successfully?
There are various things to consider in regards to building this new home. First, I have talked to my lender about construction loans and I am confident I can get one. It will be a sizable loan and therefore I want to make sure this home is the place I will stay for the next 30 years! I am considering various house plans, but my home is more likely to be about 2000 to 2400 square feet. I need to determine what features I want and need to have. I also have to determine the best floor plans for the home on the lot that I have purchased. It could be interesting to find just the right fit for all of these needs!

You need to make sure the home will meet your needs through the years, especially if you have a family or are thinking about starting a family. A 2,400 sq. ft home should be plenty of space, unless you have a big family.
You want a 2,400 square foot home? How big of a family do you have? That is a lot of house for just two people.
What type of loan were you able to secure on the place. I had a home built and due to my credit, my rate is higher than I would have liked. I will probably have to refinance within a few years.
You need to worry about getting your loan before you worry about floor plans. You are sort of putting the horse before the cart there.
Be sure to have plenty of cabinet and closet space. Otherwise you will have a space issue even in such a huge house. Some nice walkin closets would be great.
What type of garage are you going to put on the house? Or are you even putting one on the house? I have always wanted a garage but I didn’t have the money to have one built.
That’s a wonderfully huge home. How many bedrooms are you going to have? What does your husband do that you can afford such a huge home?
Is this going to be 2,400 ft on one floor or multiple floors? If on one floor, you are going to need a big piece of land to put that on. How much land do you have for this house?
