Watch Out For Online Free Trial Offers

I recently tried to accept an offer from Video Professor. It was an offer that was tied to another offer-you know, one of those where you get to try a product for free as long as you accepted offers from two other places, too. So I used that site to accept an offer to try their product for 10 days and then return it. It wasn’t like they had a shopping cart template or something. I didn’t get a choice as to the product. It was just going to come and I was just going to return it.
Well, they weren’t as bad as other companies whose version of e-commerce is to have you try the product, but when you try to return it they conveniently lose your return code or even your returned item. But they talked me into keeping the product plus one other and a camera but I’d only be charged once. Well, guess what? They charged me the next month, too.
I should have known better than to accept internet free trial offers. They’re a sort of scam in and of themselves. They now tried to tell me I couldn’t even return the first one any more now that 30 days had passed. Luckily, after much wrangling with customer service, they agreed that I didn’t have to pay beyond the first charge, and I could keep both products.
