My Short Girlfriend

My girlfriend was always complaining about her height. It was not that she had a problem being short, it was that she had a problem with her specific height.
She would tell everyone that she was 5 feet tall. Still small, because again – it wasn’t that she had a problem being short – it was that she had a problem with her exact height, which was actually 4’10.
If I told everyone she was 4’10, she would probably not speak to me for several days. She had no problem with short jokes; she had no problem with being over a foot shorter than I was. What she had a problem with was people knowing that she didn’t reach five feet.
If you could tell her that there was a way to grow taller, she would probably use it in an instant. She does not need much of a height increase. Just enough so that she can claim she was at least five feet tall and have it not be so blatantly erroneous.
There aren’t many ways to grow taller, but if she decides to start trying one of them, at least she can finally get her wish and become the height she has always claimed she was.
