Funding my Christmas Purchases

Even though I thought I had things figured out this year in terms of my finances, I didn’t expect the bankruptcy of the company that I had worked for during the past twenty years. I guess you take it for granted that it will always be there, but I suppose nothing is certain anymore.
So, for the first time in twenty years, I found myself unemployed. Don’t get me wrong, it was a blast for the first week, but after that reality started setting in, and I was getting worried. What jobs are out there for someone my age that pay the same as I was earning at my last job?
Not that many. In fact, there was one job that I applied for that I could expect to be making something similar to what I was used to in five years, but that was about as close as it was going to get.
It wasn’t the best time of year to lose my job either, since my children expect Christmas gifts. Thankfully, I have a buddy that showed me how I could sell gold for cash, and this way I could get the money I needed by selling some of the gold jewelry that I inherited over the years from my relatives.
I am just so thankful that there are places that let you sell gold jewelry for cash – otherwise I don’t know where I would have found the money for gifts this year.
