Should My Husband Get a Business Degree?

My husband is less than a year away from finishing his bachelor’s degree. He’s been going to school part time for years while he works a full time job, so this is a really exciting achievement for him. Now that graduation is within his reach, he’s already thinking of what he should do next.
One thing he’s thinking of is going on to get a master’s degree. Although he has a very good job in the financial world, particularly for not having had any college when he got the job, it’s not necessarily something he wants to do for the rest of his life. So he’s trying to think of what he wants to be when he grows up, so to speak.
He’s not crazy about the idea of getting a business degree, but I’ve suggested it. I think it would be a worthwhile degree no matter what he decides to do next — whether he changes careers, or decides to try to advance himself in this one. A master’s in business is pertinent for a lot of careers, whether you are going into golf business management, such as golf course management or managing a golf equipment store, or a financial career such as my sister’s job at a bank.
Another possibility he’s considering is a history degree. This is really appealing to him because he loves history so much — that’s what his bachelor’s is going to be in.
And hey, I may even decide to go for my master’s degree at the same time. I’ve been considering getting a master’s in writing for about a year now, and it’s about time I did something about it!

I don’t think he should do the buisness degree. The last thing you want is for him to start the degree and find out halfway through that he doesn’t care enough to continue. I think he should do whatever interests him the most.
I think doing a degree just for the benefit in the job could lead to bad things. If he wanted the buisness degree more I would agree that he should do it, but I think he should do what he enjoys.
He should bite the bullet and do the buisness degree. It’s gonna really help him do whatever he wants later. Buisnesses can really use people that know what they are doing, especially now. It will be better for everyone in the long run.
That buisness degree will really help him out later, more then he might think now. He can still be involved with history if he chooses but that buisness degree will do wonders for his paycheck.
I think he should do the buisness. It will diversify his knowledge so he can have the opportunity to do whatever he wants later. Would make a good backup too.
If he doensn’t like the idea I dont think he should do it. If he is unmotivated to take the necessary classes it could lead to bad grades and wasted money. He should definitely do whatever he is interested in so thats not an issue.
It sounds like he would dislike doing the buisness degree. It’s a pretty hard major and they weed people out that aren’t motivated by making it a big commitment. Hopefully he finds where he wants to go and it works out!
