Weather Envy

The notion of “house envy” has taken hold lately as a way to describe the desire to “keep up with the Joneses,” or compete with neighbors on social and economic status symbols such as the size and luxuriousness of your home.
Well, I have weather envy, which I would describe as the desire to live somewhere else because I am jealous of their weather. Although I love Colorado weather most of the time, lately we have had a run of record-breaking below zero temperatures, and that I could do without.
So lately I’ve been thinking about all of the warmer places I could live — and warm weather careers I could pursue. There are many jobs in golf in resort areas, where warm weather is the norm. I could teach golf, work as a caddy, or work in golf course maintenance — all of these outdoor jobs that are great when you don’t have many days of bad weather to worry about.
Even within the continental United States, there are many resort areas — such as the southwestern and southeastern states — that have great weather year round. Perhaps I should consider attending the golf academy of the South and learning more about the golf industry. Even better, they’ll help you find a job after you graduate. I’ll just tell them it’s got to be somewhere warm for me!
