Interior design is an exciting field — I remember when my family and I thought my sister would become an interior designer. (She didn’t go through with it, but I have to say she keeps the nicest-looking house out of all of us.)
There are some great programs out there for would-be interior designers. For example, Harrington interior design school lets you choose between an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in interior design. These Tampa degree programs also include interior design as one of the subjects of study. And of course, there are many other interior design schools to choose from.
Personally, I think for someone with the talent, interior design must be a great industry to work in. One of my neighbors is an artist, and one of her specialties is hand-painting tiles for people. Also, she has more recently started working directly with interior designers, creating abstract paintings to order: Basically, she uses the same color themes present in the room itself, so that the interior designer can use the painting as a tie-in.
I guess this goes to show that there are all kinds of opportunities for people trained in the principles of interior design!
