Mistakes I Made In My First Business

I was nineteen when I launched my first business. The business failed quickly because I didn’t have any clue what I was doing but this failure allowed me to learn valuable lessons that have served me well in the businesses that I have run and worked for since that time.
The biggest thing I learned with that first business was when to spend money and when to save it. One of the mistakes I made was to invest in a huge expensive double-sided full-color printer so that I could do all of my color copy printing in-house. I really could have saved a lot of money by getting my brochure printing done at the local color copy center but I didn’t realize it until the money was already spent. The error taught me to review my options before making any big purchases and I’ve never made the same mistake since.
For a long time these little mistakes that I made back then seemed like a big deal. After all, the end result was the rapid failure of my business. But when I think about all that I learned I realize that the mistakes were just part of the journey and they don’t seem like a big deal at all.
